BOARD WORKSHOP

A. CALL TO ORDER

Vice President Paul Dorsett called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. and declared a quorum was present with six members present.

B. DECLARATION OF QUORUM

In attendance were Vice President Paul Dorsett, Secretary Jeff Harris, Trustees Randall Pitcock, Garland Watson, Carol Barrett and Kimberly McAdams

C. WORKSHOP SESSION

C-1. Consideration, discussion and possible action related to the CSISD November 5, 2013 Bond Election and ethics training

Vice President Paul Dorsett recognized Superintendent Eddie Coulson who led discussion related to ethics training as it pertains to the upcoming November 5, 2013 CSISD Bond Election. CSISD has been meeting with community organizations, trying to get the word out about the bond election, making sure CISSD employees know their responsibilities regarding ethics in their official roles. Questions related to Phase 2 construction regarding the Purchasing Center and repurposing the existing site were answered and discussed. Discussion occurred with Trustees regarding their roles as board members during the election process.

C-2. Consideration, discussion and possible action related to developing a community based accountability system

Superintendent Eddie Coulson led discussion and brainstorming related to what a community based accountability system in College Station ISD should look like. Even though Governor Perry vetoed House Bill 2825, a community based accountability system still makes sense for us. This is just a starting point in the discussion and possible development of this system.

C-3. Consideration, discussion and possible action related to board representation on district committees

Discussion occurred related to replacing Trustee Randall Pitcock as soon as possible on the PAC committee.

C-4. Consideration, discussion and possible action related to the Texas Association of School Boards and Texas Association of School Administrators Annual Conference September 26-29

Discussion occurred. The conference is scheduled for the upcoming weekend. Please let Beth French know your travel plans.

C-5. Consideration, discussion and possible action related to the CSISD representatives on the Appraisal District Board of Directors

Both Tim Jones and John Flynn have served on the Appraisal District Board of Directors for the past two years and are willing to still serve. CSISD Trustees appointed Tim Jones and John Flynn to serve on the Appraisal District Board of Directors for an additional two year term.

C-6. Consideration, discussion and possible action related to the 2013-2014 CSISD student enrollment

Superintendent Eddie Coulson reported that the official enrollment count will be in October 2013, but the initial results show that CSISD continues to grow at a 4% rate. Discussion occurred.

D. ADJOURNMENT

Without objection, Vice President Dorsett adjourned the workshop at 6:53 p.m.
