BOARD WORKSHOP

A.  CALL TO ORDER

President Randall Pitcock called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. and declared a quorum was present with five members present.

 

B.   DECLARATION OF QUORUM

In attendance were President Randall Pitcock, Vice President Valerie Jochen, Secretary Paul Dorsett, and Trustees Charlotte Slack and Jeff Harris.  Trustee Carol Barrett arrived at 4:34 p.m.  Trustee Garland Watson arrived at 4:36 p.m.  

 

C.  WORKSHOP SESSION

C-1.  Introduction of Mike Martindale as Principal of College Station High School

Superintendent Eddie Coulson recognized Mike Martindale, newly hired principal of College Station High School.

 

C-2.  Consideration, discussion and possible action related to the purpose, vision and goals for College Station Independent School District

President Randall Pitcock recognized Vice President Valerie Jochen who led discussion related to the purpose, vision and goals for CSISD.  In an attempt to define Success for CSISD, raising the African American student performance scores to the state average or above, while maintaining the student performance scores of other students was discussed at length. 

 

 The board recessed at 6:25 p.m. and resumed at 6:39 p.m.

 

Staff quality and financial responsibility were also discussed as well as the ways to measure success in those areas.

 

Vice President Valerie Jochen discussed Communication and the possibility of a logo.  Superintendent Eddie Coulson will meet with and work with Director of Communications Chuck Glenewinkel to develop a plan.

 

D.  ADJOURNMENT

Without objection, President Pitcock adjourned the workshop at 8:03 p.m.
