BOARD WORKSHOP

A.  CALL TO ORDER

President Randall Pitcock called the meeting to order at 12:03 p.m. and declared a quorum was present with four members.

 

B.   DECLARATION OF QUORUM

In attendance were President Randall Pitcock, Vice President Valerie Jochen, Trustees Carol Barrett and Jeff Harris.  Secretary Paul Dorsett, Trustees Charlotte Slack and Garland Watson were absent.  

 

C.  ELECTION

C-1.  Consideration, discussion and possible action regarding an Order Canvassing Election Returns

Election Official Beth French reported that on May 14, 2011, an election was held by the City of College Station and the College Station Independent School District for the purpose of electing 3 city council representatives and 2 trustees for the school board.  Additionally, the election was held to decide whether or not to recall the Mayor and 2 city council representatives from office.

 

The election results are:

For the School Board of Trustees, Position 6, Kimberly McAdams received 3,012 votes for a 58.03% share and James Lancaster received 2,178 votes for a 41.97% share.  Kimberly McAdams was elected to serve on the school board in position 6.

 

For the School Board of Trustees, Position 7, Richard L. Howe, III received 1,399 votes for a 29.16 % share and Valerie Jochen received 3,399 votes for a 70.84% share.  Valerie Jochen was re-elected to serve on the school board in position 7.

 

MOTION 4357:  I move approval of the election results as presented.  The motion was made by Trustee Jeff Harris and seconded by Trustee Carol Barrett.  The motion passed with four yes and zero nos.  There were three absences:  Secretary Paul Dorsett, Trustee Charlotte Slack and Trustee Garland Watson were absent.

 

C-2.  Administer Oath of Office to Elected Board Members

Beth French, Notary, administered the Oath of Office to newly elected Trustee in Position 6 – Kimberly McAdams and re-elected Trustee in Position 7 – Valerie Jochen.

 

D.  ADJOURNMENT

Without objection, President Pitcock adjourned the workshop at 12:09 p.m.
