CALL TO ORDER
President Tim Jones called the meeting to order at 6:20 p.m.
B. DECLARATION OF QUORUM
President Tim Jones, Vice
President Mary Broussard, Secretary Randall Pitcock, Trustees Charlotte Slack, Steve
Aldrich and Garland Watson were present.
Trustee Marc Chaloupka was absent.
(Mayor Ron Silvia called
the City Council Meeting to order and declared that the Council had a quorum.)
Acting Superintendent
Eddie Coulson discussed the history of CSISD and the City of College Station
working together on joint projects and issues.
City Manager Glenn Brown
said that Monday’s meeting was productive and he will meet with Coulson in the
near future to help identify more common issues.
In attendance from the
City of College Station were City Manager Glenn Brown, Lance Sims, Becky
Nugent, Connie Hooks, Mike Clancey, Steve Beachy, Eric Ploeger, Hayden Migl,
Chris Scotti, Ron Gay, Ben White, Lynn McIlhaney, Ron Silvia, and David
Ruesink.
Acting Superintendent
Eddie Coulson, Deputy Superintendent Mike Ball, Directors Ann Ganter and Greg
McIntyre, Beth French, Trustees Tim Jones, Mary Broussard, Randall Pitcock,
Charlotte Slack, Steve Aldrich, and Garland Watson represented CSISD in
attendance.
The trustees and council
tossed around ideas about how the two governing bodies can work together in the
future during a joint meeting Monday. No
action was taken and no plans were officially confirmed during the workshop,
but officials agreed that taxpayer dollars can be saved and the quality of life
improved in the community when the city and schools work together.
C. WORKSHOP SESSION
C-1. Receive Report and Discuss Joint Use Agreements
Between the City of College Station and College Station ISD
Reports were presented by Chief of Police Mike Clancey and
Director of Parks & Recreation Steve Beachy.

Receive Report and Discuss District Student Enrollment, Projected
Student Growth and Building Needs
Acting Superintendent Eddie Coulson discussed the school
district’s booming growth rate, which has spurred immediate plans to build two
new elementary schools and, if needed, to add wings onto the existing Intermediate
and Middle school campuses.
C-3. Discuss Possible Future Collaborative
Efforts Between the City of College Station and College Station ISD
Dr. Coulson said that the coordination of future land acquisition
between the city and school district will be important. Coulson stated that CSISD has need for more
schools and certainly that presents opportunities for growth and partnership as
well. Among the discussed partnerships
between the two entities were future ventures in fiberoptics, as well as
possibly sharing administrative space in the proposed city center.
