A. CALL TO ORDER President Susan Lowy called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. B. DECLARATION OF QUORUM President Susan Lowy, Vice President Marc Chaloupka, Secretary Dayne Foster, Trustees Larry Johnson and Mary Broussard were present. Trustee Steve Aldrich arrived at 6:10 p.m. Trustee Tim Jones arrived at 6:12 p.m. Trustee Larry Johnson left the workshop to take a phone call at 6:40 p.m. and returned at 6:44 p.m. C. WORKSHOP SESSION Superintendent Steve Johnson introduced Mike Ball, Deputy Superintendent for Business and Operations, who presented the Board with a brief overview of the possibility of granting a tax exemption to Charitable/Fraternal Organizations. The administration is seeking guidance and direction from the Board as to the desire of the Board to grant exemptions to these organizations. 2. Tax Anticipation Notes Mike Ball, Deputy Superintendent for Business and Operations, led discussion regarding the options to be used as a vehicle for College Station ISD to manage its cash flow during the fall before tax revenues begin to be realized. This is an on-going situation in conjunction with being a Chapter 41 district. 3. Board Effective Audit and Operating Procedures 2002-03 President Susan Lowy expressed her desire for the Board of Trustees to experience a Board Audit and to update their Operating Procedures. She presented information regarding the requirements and commitment to the Board Effective Audit and Operating Procedures. D. ADJOURNMENT MOTION 3356: I move to adjourn the meeting. The motion was made by Marc Chaloupka and seconded by Larry Johnson. The motion carried with seven ayes. Without objection, President Lowy adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m. |
