HEALTH REQUIREMENTS AND SERVICES: FFAA
PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS (LOCAL)
TUBERCULOSIS SCREENING |
The parents of any student entering District schools for the first time in any grade shall provide evidence that the student has received a tuberculosis skin test within the past year or shall be questioned using the Tuberculosis Screening and Education Tool provided by the Texas Department of Health. If the responses to the survey indicate that a test is necessary, a tuberculosis test shall be required. |

UIL/MARCHING BAND/ CHEERLEADING |
A student desiring to participate in the UIL athletic program, marching band or cheerleading shall submit a statement from a health care provider authorized under UIL rules indicating that the student has been examined and is physically able to participate in the athletic program, marching band or cheerleading. This examination is required for the first year of middle school competition and the first year of high school competition. In other years, the student shall complete a medical appraisal form. A student may be required to have a physical examination based on answers to the appraisal form. |

ADDITIONAL SCREENING |
The District may provide additional screening as District and community resources permit. |

|
REFERRALS |
Parents of students identified through any screening programs as needing treatment or further examination shall be advised of the need and referred to appropriate health agencies. |
