State Compensatory Education Local Criteria for Senate Bill 702

Senate Bill 702 allows College Station ISD to use local eligibility criteria for identifying "students at risk of dropping out of school" as long as:

  1. The number of students identified and served with State Compensatory Education (SCE) funds under local criteria is limited to 10 percent of the numbers of students who received SCE services from the district using state criteria during the preceding school year, and
  2. The local criteria have been approved by the local board of trustees.

For purposes of this section, local eligibility criteria will be as follows:

A student at risk of dropping out of school includes each student who is under 21 years of age and who is experiencing serious academic difficulties in meeting the TEKS requirements as measured on grade-level classroom assignments, grades, and/or pre-TAKS assessments and/or benchmarks.
