BOARD OF TRUSTEES WORKSHOP MEETING
March 18, 2003

President Susan Lowy called the workshop meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.
B. DECLARATION OF QUORUM
President Susan Lowy, Vice President Marc Chaloupka, Secretary Dayne Foster, Trustees Steve Aldrich, Tim Jones and Mary Broussard were present. Trustee Larry Johnson was absent.
C. WORKSHOP SESSION
1. Policy Update 69
Steve Johnson, Superintendent, introduced Eddie Coulson, Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction and Personnel, who presented Policy Update 69 from the Texas Association of School Boards for discussion. The Board requested more information on policy FFAA (LOCAL) which involves medical examinations for students involved in UIL activities that require physical activity. More information will be provided to the trustees and policy FFAA (LOCAL) will be pulled from tonight’s agenda, will be placed on the April Board Meeting agenda for approval, and the Board of Trustees will consider approval of the remaining policies at tonight’s board meeting.
Discussion occurred regarding the 2003-2004 Calendar Proposal. Eddie Coulson, Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction and Personnel, answered questions, provided information regarding the calendar process, and praised the DEIC committee for hard work, time, effort and energy that has been expended on the calendar process. The Board indicated that they were ready to vote on the calendar.
MOTION 3432: I move to adjourn the meeting. The motion was made by Mary Broussard and seconded by Dayne Foster. The motion carried with six ayes.
Without objection, President Lowy adjourned the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
